Cert. Project Management RMIT University 1996
Introduction
“The underlying principles of design never differ in degree, only in scale.”
My self-imposed apprenticeship since graduating from RMIT University Bachelor of Architecture in 1988 has been an ongoing acknowledgement towards the importance of making and design. In my practice, I have a recurring theme of constantly questioning the boundaries of design through innovation, contribution and cultural implication.
My practice has an emphasis upon conceptual exploration, materiality, construction techniques and detailing. The strategy of using the full-scale prototype as a design tool is imperative in my practice. This situates the act of making at the centre of the design process and specifically highlights the imperative nature of incorporating the skills and expertise of my network of fabricators, suppliers and collaborators.
I have a wide range of design and hands-on construction experience; from residential to large-scale commercial projects; from retail and restaurant design; from furniture, object design and exhibition installations to urban planning.
Winner of numerous awards in residential, commercial and lighting, I actively wish to contribute to society, its interests and well being through my design.
